A few Corsican traditions and tasty Easter treats...

Whether you celebrate Easter by taking part in processions, attending church services or giving and receiving lots of beautifully crafted eggs (chocolate or otherwise), here are some traditional Corsican Easter dishes and celebrations, as well as some other, rather impressive chocolate treats…

Processions and celebrations…

La Granitula (meaning “the snail” in Corsican) is a famous procession where penitents carry crosses from Basse Ville in Calvi, through the winding streets up to the citadel.

Pascal celebrations in Cargèse take place at the Greek Orthodox Church, where songs are sung in the dark on Good Friday, and candles welcome the light back into the church on Easter Sunday. A joint procession with Roman Catholics also takes place on Easter Monday.
